The TIREBITER Name

One question that always pops up:

"Where did you guys get your name?" Well, from the Firesign Theater. We were fans of FT in our College years and thought the various "Tirebiter" characters (Porgy, George LeRoy,ect.) from skits on serveral albums (We owned them all) were "the bomb".
Somewhere in the late 80's or 90's Dave Ossman, one of the founding members and creators of "Tirebiter" showed up at UHartford to support one of his theatrical shows. We got to do "Brad Davis" morning show with Dave and sing the "porgy theme" . Later we attended the premier of the show and played at the afterparty.

We'll post the photos of Dave with the biters in the pictures section asap. This is a link to a wacky blurb with George LeRoy at the Firezine website. Go to the firezine homepage to find more info on the Firesign Theater and their old time radio show type of comedy. Even mo' info: http://home.earthlink.net/~ritter/firesign/lexicon/T.html

Gone to heaven
where he will have cushion rides for breakfast,
white sidewalls for lunch,
and cold rubber recaps for dinner.
